If the 67th Grammy Awards had a soundtrack, it would be a perfect blend of Burna Boy’s “Ye,” Davido’s “Feel,” Rema’s “Calm Down,” Tems’ “Free Mind,” Yemi Alade’s “Johnny,” and Asake’s “Lonely at the Top.” In other words—pure Afrobeats dominance!
The world’s biggest music awards night is looking more like a Detty December concert in Lagos, and trust Naija superstars to bring the heat. With Burna Boy, Davido, Rema, Tems, Yemi Alade, and Asake all in the running for Grammy gold, the vibes are set, the beats are heavy, and the whole world is paying attention.
Best African Music Performance: The Ultimate Showdown
If this category were a playlist, it would be an instant party starter. Five out of six nominees are straight out of Naija, and each song is pure fire:
- Burna Boy – Higher (The anthem for anyone manifesting greatness—because Burna stays on top!)
- Asake & Wizkid – MMS (The ultimate cruise jam, where street vibes meet Grammy gold.)
- Chris Brown feat. Davido & Lojay – Sensational (Davido said, “We rise by lifting others,” and here he is, lifting Afrobeats to new heights.)
- Tems – Love Me Jeje (The kind of song that makes you want to fall in love and sip palm wine under a Lagos sunset.)
- Yemi Alade – Tomorrow (Queen Yemi finally lands a Grammy nod—justice for all the years she’s kept us dancing!)
This category is looking like “Last Last” meets “Unavailable”—it’s about to be a Naija party at the Grammys!
Best Global Music Album: Rema & Tems Level Up
- Tems – Born in the Wild (If “Higher” by Tems had a baby with “Essence,” it would be this album—soulful, smooth, and straight-up Grammy-worthy.)
- Rema – Heis (This guy turned “Calm Down” into a global anthem, and now he’s back for more. Grammy dey play?)
At this point, Tems is collecting Grammy nods like they’re party jollof, and Rema’s Afro-rave takeover is only just beginning.
Best R&B Song: Tems Enters the Big Leagues
- Tems – Burning
If Tems wins, expect a chill but legendary speech, something like:
"I just wanna thank God… and also, Afrobeats to the world, man!"
If she doesn’t win? Don’t worry, “Free Mind” will still be on every playlist for the next decade.
Burna Boy: The Grammy Hall of Fame Resident
At this point, if Burna Boy had a theme song for the Grammys, it would be “It’s Plenty” because, well… the nominations just keep coming! Higher is yet another Grammy-worthy banger, and the African Giant is showing no signs of slowing down.
Burna is basically at the point where he walks into the Grammys like it’s his backyard, and we love to see it.
Meanwhile, Beyoncé is Still Beyoncé-ing
Beyoncé’s album “Cowboy Carter” just earned her 11 nominations this year, bringing her total to 99 Grammy nods—the most in history.
If she hits 100 noms, she might just drop another surprise album mid-ceremony (because, well, she’s Beyoncé).
Afrobeats: The Global Soundtrack
From "Ye" to "Amapiano," from "Essence" to "Soweto," Afrobeats has gone from being the life of the party to being the heartbeat of global music.
With Nigeria dominating the 2025 Grammys, it’s no longer Afrobeats to the world—Afrobeats is the world.
So whether we’re celebrating wins or catching cruise online after the event, one thing is sure—the sound is never stopping.
Stay tuned to WorldviewDigested for all the Grammy tea, reactions, and—of course—the best memes from Naija Twitter!
